In addition to the
cases reported directly to the Sheriff’s Department in the standard
course of business, we receive numerous referrals from the Internet
Fraud Complaint Center (IFCC) in regards to internet thefts
occurring in Saint Charles County. Additional cases are appearing
from the Sheriff’s Department’s participation with the Regional
Computer Crime Education and Enforcement Group of Greater Saint
Louis (RCCEEG) and the Missouri Internet Crimes Against Children
Task Force.
Generally each case
contains numerous computers and media to be analyzed. An average
case usually takes approximately 42 hours to complete. This time
does not include report writing and court preparation.
